Many Fine Features
Our October 5th British Empire & Foreign
Countries auction, sister sale to our specialised Australasia auction that
will be held on the preceding day, is now at the delicate catalogue
production stage. Presentation is important.
This auction offers over 1,300 lots, the various properties of 114 different vendors and contains, as the estate agents say, many 'fine features'.
Lots range from large to ‘charming’ and the impressive collections of British Commonwealth countries formed by the late Patrick Williams, FRPSL, and the late Harold Edmund Hardy of Mayfield may be found throughout, providing ready access to the collecting of new areas.
Here presented is the highly individual Rodney Partridge collection of Burma, deceptively spacious in its extent though with potential for future expansion. For those attracted to this general region, Burma may be judged a convenient and affordable alternative on the borders of the popular India area.
This auction also provides a rare opportunity to acquire fine Czechoslovakia, which benefits from the characterful collections formed by the late Frederick J. Sansom, lovingly created and retaining most of their original features.
A well-appointed section of East Africa displays the delightful material collected by the late H.A.W. Shea, items and selections of grace and distinction, whilst that of Rhodesia contains both the attractive Double Heads and the more “compact” Admirals.
The much sought after area of Jamaica is well served by the magnificent and well maintained collection of the late Dr R.M. Craig of Shropshire (tipped as an up and coming county) whilst, for those in search of an even more exotic location, we provide the highly desirable Stewart Amos collection of the picturesque and peaceful island of Saint Helena, situated in a very quiet neighbourhood.
This outstanding auction will be available for public inspection at our East Mayfair offices from Monday 1st to Wednesday 3rd October, and on earlier dates by appointment.
Early viewing is recommended.
