Shopping Early for Christmas

The British Empire and Foreign Countries auction held at Grosvenor on December 4th and 5th offered a wide range of potential Christmas presents for the discerning collector and achieved a pleasing final sale total of £302,844, despite a mixed bag of results with certain sections and countries generating great enthusiasm whilst others failed to rouse.

The Specialised Great Britain Postage Stamps and Postal History auction held over two days at Grosvenor on October 30 and 31 achieved a final sale total of £310,714, showing a good overall demand for material but also reflecting a continuing volatility with certain specialist areas continuing to wallow in the doldrums.

This sale is currently in preparation and will include the ‘Bellapais’ collection of Cyprus, the David Quick collection of Nigeria, a rarely offered collection of Ethipia formed by Dr. Simon Kelly, together with a specialised section of Falkland Islands featuring the Sir Geoffrey Palmer collection of ‘Cork’ Cancellations.
