A partly finished die proof for the proposed 11/2d. monocoloured issue, with uncleared surround, in black on glazed card on piece (48 x 49mm) from De La Rue Striking Book endorsed in red 'This die partly finished/chgd. 25 Aug 10'. Unique. Photo. It seems that the whole design has been recut from a copy of the old die. The head differs in a few lines, notably at the back of the head. The curtain folds under ''POSTAGE'' are much deeper and the horizontal cuts in the frill at the bottom are all in different places. The background to the value tablet is solid, whilst on the original issue it was lined.
