The Specialised Great Britain auction held by Grosvenor on January 25th and 26th proved to be a major event in the philatelic calendar, with 2473 lots on offer. The final total of over £1,490,000 comfortably exceeded the lower estimate of £1,229,995.

The continuing strong demand for Great Britain was fully evident at the Grosvenor sale held on May 26, at which the realisations, including the buyer’s premium of 17.625% totalled over three quarters of a million pounds.

The Grosvenor specialised Great Britain auction on December 17th proves demand remains heatlthy.



The sale of Great Britain material held by Grosvenor on December 17 proved once again that demand remains steady, with some very strong prices achieved for line-engraved material.



Included in the sale was a remarkable registered envelope (lot 1258)sent in November 1937, from London to Rio de Janeiro, the postage totalling £22 1s 3d.
